Network Improvements

Dear Members, I have installed a second wireless router which is located behind the bar. This now provides Wi-Fi coverage into the members lounge and that end of the clubhouse. When you do a network search you will now see NUSC_g_router and NUSC_n_router. The n router is the new one. Connect to whichever one has the strongest signal. Note: the new router it is 802.11n and 802.11g compliant so it should work with most laptops. Soon (in the coming month) we will be transferring ISP from TalkTalk to Plusnet and with that I hope better download speeds from the present appalling 220kbps.

OOD Duty Availabilities

We are looking for a volunteer OOD for Sat 18th Feb (for Race support and Bar Duty). For those needing 2011/12 work hours, this may be handy so please contact Paul Winterfeld on 01633 421312 if interested.

General Purpose Computer

For those that need Internet access I have installed a general purpose computer next to the TV for any club member or visitor to use. Please use the Guest Login for which there is no password.
At the time of installing it was clear of any viruses and is running AVG scans on a daily basis.
Please note Internet access is slow due to our rubbish ISP so don't blame the Computer or the Wireless Router. This is how it will be while we stay with TalkTalk or so it seems.
There are a few applications loaded including MS Word and Excel. If you need any other apps please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Please do not allow your children to play on it unless you accompany them.

Dinghy/Keelboat Winter Series

Dates and Times are now posted on the racing page for the winter dinghy and small keel boats open series. The series started on Jan 29th 2012 following a short break from the Frostbite series and ends on April 1st. The series ends prior to the cruiser launches.

Race Reports

The Racing page now has links to race reports provided by club members. Two reports kindly provided by Chris Roberts are now posted covering the first Tide race and the first Knickertwister. Any contributions to future races are welcomed so that we get a good cross section of views and styles - keep them coming.

Loan Moorings

Following discussions with the legal department of the RYA, we have been advised that anyone considering lending or borrowing a mooring should discuss the matter, beforehand, with their insurers as any undeclared changes might vary the terms of their insurance, to the detriment of both parties.
